Orange French Toast

INGREDIENTS

This recipe features Filippo Berio Extra Light Olive Oil

  • 1 cup orange juice
  • 1 egg
  • 2 egg whites
  • 1/3 cup skim milk
  • 1 teaspoon orange extract
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • ¼ teaspoon salt (optional)
  • ¼ cup Filippo Berio Extra Light Olive Oil, divided
  • 8 thick slices of stale bread
  • 1 fresh orange, sliced (for garnish)

Method: Stove Top Cooking

  1. In a large bowl beat orange juice, egg, egg whites, milk, orange extract, sugar, salt (if desired), and 3 tablespoons olive oil with a wire whisk until well blended.
  2. Soak bread in the mixture until liquid is absorbed.
  3. Heat remaining 1 tablespoon of olive oil in a skillet or on a griddle. Cook bread until lightly browned on a side, turn and brown the second side. Repeat with remaining bread.
  4. Serve garnished with orange slices.
